Advisors, it has been determined by the Math Department that there will be no time limit on the prerequisite for MATH-M 118. In other words, as long as a student successfully completed the prerequisite for MATH-M 118 (MATH 11000, MATH 11100, or equivalent course), he/she will be able to enroll in MATH-M 118 regardless of when the prerequisite was taken. Students needing only MATH-M 118 for their degree will not be bound by the “2 year” prerequisite rule.
The Registrar will not make this rule effective in the system until summer and fall 2012 registration begins. In the meantime, if you have any students in this situation, please feel free to submit an authorization request (form/link found at: http://www.math.iupui.edu/placement/ ) to ask that the hold be removed.
NOTE: Please keep in mind that if students need to take any math course other than MATH-M 118, they must have successfully completed the appropriate prerequisite within the last two years. If the prerequisite was not completed within the last two years, students will need to take the math placement test. |
